My name is Stavros Kyriakidis. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2010 with a BA in Professional Music Major Concentrate (performance and arranging) and Music Business Major. I also hold a postgraduate MMUS in Songwriting from Bath Spa University in the UK. In 2019, I joined University of Nicosia where I studied Jazz performance guitar. I have been teaching guitar for the last 10 years at music schools, the open school of the Lakatamia municipality and as part of the DRASE programs organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture. I have been also playing the guitar professionally in concerts, live music bars and other entertainment venues since 2014. Currently, I play the electric and folk guitar, and have an avid passion for Rebetiko - a Greek traditional music which has now been included on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List and is being taught in many universities in America and Europe. I am passionate about sharing my music and musical knowledge in Jazz, Rock, Pop as well as the Eastern Greek traditional music. In Eastern Greek traditional music, the guitarist plays bass and chords at the same time, and the scales used are from the Eastern music. The blend of Western and Eastern styles will introduce you to new musical sounds and offer you a different perspective to music. This will provide you with a new tool in creating music making the learning experience more exciting and fun.
